Premium quality quandong fruit from bio-diverse plantation. Quandongs are round and bright red. They are very high in vitamin C. When fresh, they are tart and tangy with a unique flavour akin to rhubarb or apricot. The fruit contains a larger pitted stone (40% by weight) enclosing a nutritious kernel (nut). At Ni Ni Well, we separate the stone from the fruit which is then vacuum packed in 1kg bags. Quandong trees (santalum acuminatum) are a member of the sandalwood genus and grow naturally throughout Australia's vast arid and desert regions. Like all santalums, they are root parasites and therefore perform best when grown with numerous host plants as part of a diverse native ecosystem.
